Shabby Chic Vanity Makeover
I wanted to re-do my daughters room Shabby Chic and found the perfect vanity on Facebook Marketplace. It was listed as $100, we contacted the seller, then went on an hour road trip to Asheville, NC to pick it up. The vanity had a few stains and cracks. Nothing a little paint, wood putty, and TLC couldn’t fix to get this beauty sparkling again!

The vanity had beautiful detail and although I loved the cream with the antique glazing finish, it was definitely in need of some grime clean and shine. Whoever owned this previously was definitely a smoker. It did not have a strong smoke smell, but some stains definitely were nicotine. We ordered some Mean Green Cleaner & Degreaser to tackle those nasty stains and give it a Mean Green clean! https://amzn.to/3krLq7F (Affiliate Link)

One of the drawers had a crack which was easy to wood putty with GOODFILLA Wood & Grain Filler. https://amzn.to/3EDnrt8 (Affiliate Link)

The color my daughter Kate and I chose to paint the dresser was Bella from Sherwin Williams. I had it mixed by Lowe’s using Krylon chalk paint. I love the dry finish of chalk paint and it looks great on antique furniture.

I’m loving the tone of this pink. It has the look of a vintage pink which was what I was going for in my daughters room. This vanity’s manicure is almost complete! She just needs a few more touch ups on her paint job, then to peel off tape and finish the drawers.

I love the glass knob against the pink. The vanity came with three original clear glass knobs. We ordered another knob to match the original hardware that came with the vanity. https://amzn.to/41w607x (Affiliate Link)
This Bella color by Sherwin Willams changes in different lighting and looks lighter here with an overhead light shining right on it. It is a very versatile color that goes with many different shades that work with pink.

Here is the finished dresser, just need to get some cute girly accessories to make it look fit for a princess. This is some vintage items I had from my antique shop until we could accessorize it.

This faux fur vanity stool gave this Shabby Chic antique dresser a modern “girly” vibe. We love it and its so transitional for when she outgrows this look. https://amzn.to/3IuUVv2 (Affiliate Link)

We love how this $100.00 vintage dresser off Facebook Marketplace turned out. I will share more about her Shabby Chic bedroom re-do in a future blog post. Comment below if you loved this Shabby Chic Vanity Makeover!

Yes, paint sure can make a huge difference in a piece or space!!
Turned out beautiful! When I was a little girl my complete bedroom set was painted pink with clear glass knobs. After divorce it was left with my dad. For years the chest of drawers was in my dads laundry room. I got it back several years ago, but lost it in our house fire. Seeing this brought back memories! Great job Tamara!
Carol, I am so sorry I’m just replying to this. The comments were hidden somehow. I am new to blogging, so learning the technical side has been a challenge to my creative brain. I am mostly sorry you lost the pink vanity that brought you so many memories in the fire. I know that was all so devastating for you and Rick. Thank you for sharing your sentiments. It is good to hear from you and I hope you and Rick are well. XOXO Tamara
Thank you Mitze! It’s so bright and happy. XOXO, Tamara
